Multiple local and area fire departments responded to an early morning house fire on Manitowoc’s southside.
Manitowoc Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Jeremy Wagner says they received a call just before 6:30 Monday morning for a report of a structure fire in the 1700 block of South 15th Street.
Wagner says a 911 call stated there was smoke and active fire inside, which was located by the first engine on the scene within four minutes of arrival.
A hose line was deployed quickly, and the blaze began to extinguish while additional crews performed a primary search of the home.
The fire, which appears to have originated in the bathroom, was put out quickly. All occupants were able to evacuate the home safely and are being assisted by The American Red Cross.
No current dollar loss is available, and the fire remains under investigation.
Assisting Manitowoc Fire and Rescue on the scene were fire departments from Two Rivers, Branch, and Silver Creek. The Manitowoc Police Department, Manitowoc Public Utilities, and Wisconsin Public Service also aided on the scene.
