A man was arrested last week for OWI after nearly hitting another car.
The Manitowoc Police Department was informed of the intoxicated driver at 12:15 last Wednesday afternoon (August 14th) after a City employee called to report the truck driving north on South Lakeview Drive that crossed the center line and almost hit another vehicle waiting to board the S.S. Badger.
The driver then nearly hit several parked cars near The Wharf and nearly caused an accident at the intersection with South 8th Street.
When police arrived, one officer noticed a figure move from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat and exited the vehicle from that side.
The 44-year-old man displayed several signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming two pints of vodka that morning.
A field sobriety test was administered, but the man stopped the test, saying, “Just take me to jail.”
The officers obliged, issuing a ticket for Operating Without a Driver’s License and charging him with Operating While Under the Influence, his 3rd offense.
