The City of Green Bay is in the process of relocating its police Headquarters.
FOX11 reports that the City is considering the option of buying the former Green Bay Press-Gazette building, which is located at 435 East Walnut Street, right next to City Hall.
Mayor Eric Genrich is quoted as saying the current police HQ is not the “quality that we’re looking for” and that the City is looking at several sites, including the former home of the newspaper.
The cost for the building is reported to be around $3.6 million along with an exchange of three city owned properties, however, some renovations would also have to be done.
That cost is not known at this time.
The proposal is still in the early stages, as it needs several committee approvals before going before the full Common Council.
