Rescuers pulled five people from Lake Michigan in two separate incidents Sunday (August 18th).
The first occurred just before 6:00 p.m. when the Coast Guard responded to a call about three teenagers struggling in the water off Bender Beach.
All three were rescued, with two taken to the hospital.
An hour later, firefighters were called to assist two people stranded on a rocky shoreline near the We Energies fishing pier after their small boat capsized.
The National Weather Service is advising people to avoid Lake Michigan today due to dangerous waves and currents.
