There’s a new partnership between Lakeland University and Moraine Park Technical College.
Over 40 healthcare professionals joined Lakeland President Beth Borgen, MPTC President Bonnie Baerwald, and Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez to formally celebrate a new nursing program partnership that will begin this fall.
Students can simultaneously enroll in an associate’s degree in nursing from Moraine Park Technical College and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lakeland in four years.
The partnership comes at a time when Wisconsin is well behind growth needed to meet current and future demand for patient care.
Baerwald noted that there will be 8,000 nurse openings in the region served by MPTC in the next decade.
Rodriguez says it’s a problem we need to urgently solve, and what I’m seeing will go far.
She also chairs the Governor’s Task Force on the Healthcare Workforce to find solutions to the current shortages in Wisconsin’s healthcare workforce.
