Some portions of county road will now be a part of the city of Manitowoc.
The Manitowoc Common Council approved seven resolutions to take part in some roads that already lie within the city’s jurisdiction but are still considered part of a county highway.
The first three transfers start on Manitowoc’s north side and include N. Rapids Road or County Road R from Homestead Rd to W. Custer Street.
The fourth transfer is the portion of West Custer Street from South Alverno Road to South Rapids Road, while the fifth runs from Hecker Road from Calumet Avenue to Viebahn Street.
The sixth road transfer from the county to the city is a portion of West Viebahn Street, which turns down some of Hecker Road.
The last few road transfers go from Viebahn Street through South 10th Street on the city’s south side.
Public Infrastructure Committee Chair Mike Cummings says the transfers allow the city to get money from the state, plus there’s already scheduled work on some of the streets that the city now owns.
