A state legislator is pressing Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) to comply with a newly enacted state law that mandates the return of police officers to the city’s schools.
State Senator John Jagler sent a letter to the MPS school board president yesterday, inquiring about the timeline for reinstating officers on school premises.
According to Jagler, Act 12, Wisconsin’s school reform law, requires MPS to have officers back in the schools, and they were supposed to be in place by January 1st.
However, no officers have yet been assigned to Milwaukee Public Schools.
