The City of Chilton has given an update on an ongoing road construction project.
Crews began laying the final layer of blacktop on East Main Street this morning (August 26th).
The Roadway will be closed between East Breed and Adams Streets this week, with the final layer of blacktop being laid west of Adams Street on Tuesday and Wednesday, as long as the weather cooperates.
City officials are asking residents to avoid the area over the next few weeks, as a large amount of construction traffic will be going through the area.
Road markings and signs will be installed in September as the project nears completion.
