The new kicker in Green Bay won’t be veteran Greg Joesph. After Anders Carlsen was released Tuesday, it was thought the 12-year veteran might stick around in Green Bay.
That lasted 24 hours as they released Joesph and claimed rookie Brayden Narveson off waivers from The Tennessee Titans.
Narveson, who kicked last season for North Carolina State, lost the battle with veteran Nick Folk as the Titan’s placekicker in camp, but his numbers are eye-popping.
He connected on 6 of 7 field goal attempts, including a 59-yarder, and he was also 2 for 2 in extra points. As a side note, he made all 196 extra-point attempts in college.
General Manager Brian Gutekunst said that Narveson was a player they liked coming out of college, and they kept an eye on him during preseason camp.
He added that once he (Narveson) became available, they decided to go after him and landed him today.
The two kickers on the roster are Narveson and Alex Hale, who they released earlier in camp and signed to the practice squad Wednesday.
