Alexander C. Augustine, age 71, entered his heavenly home after unexpectedly passing away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at his home.
He was born March 25, 1953 in Manitowoc, son of the late Raymond and Adelia (Altergott) Augustine. Alex attended First German Lutheran Grade School, then attended Manitowoc Lutheran High School, and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1971. On October 10, 1981 he married Barbara K. Robley at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2018. Alex was employed at many places over the years but spent most of his adult years working at Northeast Asphalt. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139 Union for over 35 years until his retirement in 2008. Following retirement, Alex worked part-time as maintenance/groundskeeper at Southbrook Manor, Manitowoc. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and loved classic cars and meeting friends to share a meal. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Alex is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Sarah and Paul Mleziva; his son and daughter-in-law: Eric and Sarah Augustine; his six grandchildren: Xander and Charlotte Mleziva, Aiden, Ethan, Emily, and Isaiah Augustine; and his two sisters and brothers-in-law: Rae Susan (Kurt) Lau and Mary Beth (Mark) Hassemer. He is also survived by dearly loved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Raymond and Adelia Augustine; and his wife: Barbara K. Augustine.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00am until 11:15am on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church.
