A Walworth County judge has set a $1 million bond for Chad Richards, the young man accused of killing UW-Whitewater student Kara Welsh.
Authorities discovered Welsh’s body on Friday night in an off-campus apartment, where she had been shot to death.
Details about the relationship between Richards and Welsh remain unclear, including whether they had dated or how they knew each other.
Welsh, remembered by friends as a kind and approachable person, was a member of Whitewater’s gymnastics team.
Richards had been a wrestler at the university during his first two years.
Richards is currently being held in jail.
