There’s a new park and open space plan for the city of Two Rivers.
Parks and Recreations Director Mike Mathis explained to the city council that the plan had been repeated for many years, so updating it was needed.
He also explained that if the city wants a grant for park development, they need the plan in place. Some projects highlighted during the discussion with the council included work at Coast Guard Park and could include a “New Beach.”
Mathis was also asked about improvements around the C&N Railroad Corridor and what’s going to happen at Riverside Park, which seems to be the city’s next big project.
The park could also get a new skating ramp.
He tells the council that while he doesn’t know how all the projects will be funded, it’s more about setting a vision and giving the city a goal to improve their parks.
The plan was introduced for comments from the community online before holding a listening session at the Community House.
