A case of whooping cough has been confirmed at a Green Bay middle school.
WBAY reports that a letter sent to parents, the case was detected between August 27 and August 29th at Edison Middle School.
Whopping cough first appears to look like a cold, according to the CDC, but later can turn into rapid, violent, and uncontrollable coughing fits.
Coughing can cause people to make a high-pitched “whoop” when they inhale.
Whooping cough symptoms could also include trouble breathing and can last from one to six weeks.
It’s not known how many people the case affects at Edison Middle School.
