A local organization wants to show what resources are available throughout the county.
NAMI Manitowoc County is hosting its Social Service Resource Fair this upcoming Monday (September 9th) from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Inn on Maritime Bay.
Amy Smith, with NAMI, explained to the WCUB Breakfast Club that the fair will highlight valuable resources available in our area.
“Everything from behavioral health to substance use disorder, or shelter services and so much more,” she described. “We have about 30 vendors that we are so proud to have, both profit and nonprofit organizations. This is important because most resource fairs only highlight the nonprofit organizations.”
Other organizations that might require insurance will also be on hand to try and help people who need it.
Smith continues saying if you don’t need any of the helpful resources, you can still come to ask to help volunteer with one of the organizations.
Some organizations that will attend the fair include Hope House and the Haven, Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Behavioral Health, Lean on Me Lakeshore, and more.
Smith says the fair is important because some people don’t know where to start with finding mental health resources.
“So this gives the community an opportunity to come out, put a face with a name, get to talk with people,” Smith explained. “Whether you need the service or you know of someone who needs the services, this helps gives you the information to know who to reach out to and how to get those services.”
NAMI Manitowoc County President Donna Firman says the event is free and open to the public, plus there will be raffles and food available for everyone who attends.
