Packer fans around Wisconsin held their collective breaths last week Friday when Quarterback Jordan Love stayed down after taking a hit late in the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Doctors say it was an MCL sprain on his left leg, however the Packers organization has not placed him on the Injured Reserve list.
He is currently listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, but a former NFL player isn’t so sure about that.
During this week’s episode of his On the Line Podcast, Super Bowl-winning lineman Evan Smith made a bold statement.
“He’s gonna play,” he said. “Trust me, they can tape you to make sure your MCL is there.”
He noted that Love’s $200 million plus contract will play a factor in the decision to either play or sit the second year starter.
“I’ve seen quarterbacks paid less play through more,” Smith recalled.
Smith also noted, “At the point he is at right now, it’s really can I push off and rotate through that back leg, make the throws, and withstand the pain that I am going to have to withstand.”
The Packers and Colts will square off in Green Bay’s home opener at Lambeau Filed at noon Sunday.
The Colts are also 0-1 to start the season after they lost to an explosive Houston Texans squad led by C.J. Stroud in his sophomore season.
Coverage of the game will begin at 10:00 a.m. on 107.9 FM WOMT.
