If you see a large police presence this afternoon at Manitowoc’s City Hall, there is no reason to worry.
The Manitowoc Police Department announced Monday (September 9th) that they are hosting a county-wide active killer drill at city hall beginning at 4:30 p.m. and going until 7:30.
Police and fire personnel from all over Manitowoc County will be participating, so residents will see a large number of squad cars present.
The drill also includes some traffic closures. Quay Street will be closed from South 10th Street, just west of the Fat Seagull. South 9th Street at Franklin Street will also be closed; however, anyone can still access the businesses in the area.
This type of training occurs yearly in Manitowoc County to keep police, fire, EMS, and dispatch proficient in active killer response.
Last year, this event was held at Hope Church and was hosted by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office and the Rockwood Fire Department.
If there are any questions regarding this event, you can contact Lieutenant Arps of the Manitowoc Police Department at (920)686-6592.
