The Green Bay Correctional inmate accused of killing his cellmate he only knew for a few hours has had his bond set.
WBAY reports that 24-year-old Jackson Vogel made his first court appearance last Friday (September 13th) and pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the death of 19-year-old Micah Laureano.
Laureano was found strangled in the cell after a guard at the Green Bay Correctional Institution found him.
The corrections officer claimed indicate the Vogel attacked Laureano because of his race and sexual orientation.
Court documents also showed that Vogel knocked out Laureano before allegedly strangling him.
Vogel’s bond was set at $1 million, and his next court appearance will be back in October.
He’s charged with first-degree intentional homicide with a hate crime enhancer for the incident.
Vogel was in prison after an attempted homicide case in Manitowoc County.
