The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office reminds citizens of car seat safety during Child Passenger Safety Week.
This week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is partnering with Fond du Lac County and many other communities to ensure children’s safety while on the road.
The yearly safety week will end with National Seat Check Saturday, which will give parents free instruction on how to correctly install and use car seats.
According to the NHTSA, 48 percent of parents and caregivers have their car seats installed incorrectly.
In passenger cars, car seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers, when installed correctly.
Car Seats save lives, and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office wants to ensure all children are safe and secure while in the car.
