The Manitowoc Lincoln girls’ tennis team traveled to Sheboygan South yesterday and earned a dominant 7-0 win over the Redwings.
Singles competitors Jordin Popp, Allison Gates, Jersie Pankratz, and Abbie Kaiser each won in straight sets, while Taylor Peterson and Zylia Kleinfeldt swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
Maya Schneider and London Vang also won in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, while Breleigh Kowalski and Reilly Blaser had to enter a third-set tiebreaker.
This Ships’ duo won the first set 6-3 before falling 4-6 in the second set.
Kowalski and Blaser rallied in the tiebreaker, winning 10-7 and claiming the match.
With the win, the Ships improve to 8-5, 3-1 in FRCC play, and are tied for second in the conference.
Notre Dame Academy still holds the top spot with a perfect 12-0 record, 4-0 in the FRCC.
The Ships are off today before hosting De Pere on Thursday.
