All week, we have been looking into the past 125 years of Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital history, but what does the future hold?
The biggest change in recent years was the collaboration between Holy Family Memorial and Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, which went into effect in March of 2021.
Since then, Manitowoc’s oldest hospital has received American College of Cardiology’s National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) Chest Pain-MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for the sixth time, and entered into a preferred provider agreement with Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Sister Kay Klackner of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity says the immediate future will see some changes.
“Froedtert is working with us in what they call the Northern Region, and they are also adding ThedaCare right now,” she explained. “We are kind of in this transition time (which can) get to be a little bit messy.”
But, despite the changes Sister Kay says the Sisters will continue to make sure that God remains at the center of their work.
“Our concern along all of it is that we maintain and hold our Catholicity in the organizations that we are in,” she said. “Now, there may be changes in what service lines we do. There may be all kinds of changes that will happen, but that’s our goal, and that is what we need to do.”
Those who wish to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the hospital are invited to stop by the atrium at 2:00 this Saturday (September 28th), and then hang around for a mass led by Bishop David Ricken.
