Approximately 30 boys’ and girls’ teams from the state of Wisconsin are expected to converge at Meadow Links Golf Course in Manitowoc on Saturday for the 47th annual Len Nikolai Manitowoc Cross Country Invitational.
Nikolai was a staple of Ships cross country for 45 years, coaching over 6200 student-athletes during his illustrious and distinguished career.
He was also Lincoln’s Head Track coach for 33 years and is a member of both the Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame and The Lakeshore All-Sports Hall of Fame.
Besides Lincoln, Valders, Sheboygan North and South, Plymouth, Kaukauna and Sevastopol are some local and area teams expected o participate.
The competition is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., with the varsity girls’ and boys’ races scheduled for 10:35 and 11:05 a.m., respectively.
