Joe Wolf, a Wisconsin high school basketball legend, has passed away at the age of 59.
Wolf, a Kohler native, led the Kohler Blue Bombers to three WIAA State Championships before attending the University of North Carolina.
While at North Carolina, under coach Dean Smith, Wolf received All-ACC Honors and made four NCAA Tournament appearances.
This propelled Wolf to be the 13th overall pick in the 1987 NBA Draft by the L.A. Clippers. Wolf played 12 years in the NBA for the Clippers, Nuggets, Celtics, Trail Blazers, Hornets, Magic, and Bucks.
After his playing career, Wolf spent 25 years coaching in college, CBA, NBA G League, and NBA.
This included being an assistant coach for the Bucks from 2008 to 2013. At the time of his passing, Wolf was an assistant coach with the Bucks’ G League affiliate, Wisconsin Herd.
The former Blue Bomber and 6’ 11” big man was voted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as the greatest high school basketball player ever in Wisconsin in 2005.
Wolf leaves behind a legacy as a brother, uncle, player, and coach.
