What happens next to the last person to see Elijah Vue before he went missing won’t be known for at least two more months.
Lawyers for 39-year-old Jesse Vang were back in court Friday (September 27th) afternoon for a status conference.
Attorney’s Timothy Hogan and Michael Turner asked for another status date for Vang.
Judge Robert Dewane set the next status date for November 6th at 10:30 am.
Jimmy Vue, Elijah’s father, was asked if he wanted to say anything while watching over Zoom, but he did not.
Vang is facing chronic child neglect charges for incidents that happened before Elijah was reported missing.
According to a criminal complaint, Elijah’s mother Katrina Baur dropped the toddler off for “disciplinary purposes.”
On February 20th, the day Elijah went missing, Vang says he took his son to the bus stop before returning to his apartment and seeing the toddler sleeping.
Police say Vang told them he took a nap and when he woke up, Elijah was gone.
Since then, Elijah’s remains were found off Kristy Bob Lane and Manitou Drive earlier this month on a hunter’s private property when the hunter was getting ready for the upcoming season.
How Elijah died is still being figured out by the Wisconsin State Crime Lab and other law enforcement agencies.
Katrina Baur is set to be back in court later in October.
