A comeback at Lambeau falls short as the Green Bay Packers lost to the Minnesota Vikings 31-29.
The Vikings started hot, scoring on four of their first five drives, building to a 28-0 lead in the first half.
The Packers would strike back in the 2nd quarter when a bomb of a punt by Daniel Whelan went off of Brandon Powell, and was recovered by the Packers inside the five yard line.
Jordan Love would find Jayden Reed for a touchdown, and would go on to throw two more to Dontayvion Wicks and Tucker Kraft, but he would also throw three interceptions on the day.
Green Bay would get within six points in the 4th quarter, a spread which would have been covered if Brayden Narveson had made his two field goal tries.
Minnesota would add a field goal, giving them a 9 point lead. Green Bay would score one more time but fell by 2.
Love summed up the game in a post game press conference the best, saying “We got into a hole early” and “We didn’t make enough plays.”
Love admitted that he was a little off all day and “made things tough” on his receivers.
One bright spot for the Packers was their o-line play, as Rasheed Walker, Elgton Jenkins, Josh Meyers, Sean Rhyan, and Zach Tom controlled the line of scrimmage.
Love was only sacked once, and was left un-pressured for a majority of the game.
Rhyan spoke with Seehafer News about the Vikings defense, which gave numerous different looks, but the line was ready.
“I think what allowed us to control that no man’s land right there was staying calm and not trying to do too much,” Rhyan explained. “Doing our job. Doing our 1/11th. The backs were really helping us out a lot, making us right.”
Meyers agreed with his fellow big man, noting that he watch a ton of film and wasn’t surprised by anything the defense showed.
“We had seen all of those looks. They have a million of them,” he told Seehafer News.
Running back Josh Jacobs was upset by the loss, but said that this game shows, “We have a lot of guys that have a lot of heart. They didn’t give up and that’s the biggest thing.”
Love agreed, saying “we have that mindset to take it one play at a time…nobody quit.”
Love displayed confidence with his team, ending his press conference saying “We are going to come back next week and keep working…I like where we are at.”
The loss drops the Packers to 2-2 on the season, and 0-2 against NFC teams.
They will get a chance to rebound in one week as they travel to LA to take on the Rams.
