Healthiest Manitowoc County wants to help parents who are ready or have already just started a family.
They are hosting a Community Baby Shower this Friday (October 4th) from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Two Rivers Community House.
Health Educator Lexi Otis explained on the WCUB Breakfast Club that if you have a child under the age of three, this event would be a good fit.
Otis says it’s more than just a resource fair.
“It’s set up for a multitude of reasons, but one of the big things is to bring different resources under the same roof,” she stated. “But then we have these resources that are there but also skill building and parent tips and tricks.”
Vendors at the Community Baby Shower will provide demonstrations and help parents with different skills like car seat safety, safe sleep, and how to swaddle a baby.
Otis says the event also has a farm animal theme this year to make it fun for families.
“Attendees can get optional free family photos,” she described. “Mishicot FFA is bringing some handheld animals. There will be a fire truck and a squad car there for individuals to see and to climb in.”
The shower also includes raffle drawings which could include kids toys to a night out for the parents.
Lastly, a community closet will be available for people to donate or take baby items like bottles, diapers, and pacifiers.
The Community Baby Shower was first hosted by Investing Early in 2023 to reconnect families who missed out on community resources during the first three years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
