Wisconsin’s Urban Search and Rescue Task Force, including area departments, is offering aid following Hurricane Helene.
Hurricane Helene’s destruction has been felt across the southeastern portion of the country, especially in North Carolina, where Wisconsin Task Force 1 has been sent.
They were deployed on Saturday (September 28th) to aid in the state’s response, recovery, and search efforts.
They are equipped with gear specialized for water search and rescue.
Members of the Appleton, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Neenah/Menasha, and Oshkosh Fire Departments were deployed after North Carolina requested aid through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact.
The Wisconsin Task Force 1 was requested for seven days, which may be shortened or lengthened based on need.
Thus far, the deadly hurricane has claimed the lives of over 100 people while hundreds more remain unaccounted for in the aftermath.
