A man charged with fentanyl trafficking and firearm possession has pleaded guilty.
WBAY TV reports that 35-year-old Joseph Charlesworth from the Fox Valley was sentenced to 10 years in prison and seven years of supervised release after pleading guilty yesterday (October 2nd).
According to court records, the Lake Winnebago Area Metro Drug Unit agents and the ATF arrested Charlesworth during a traffic stop and found fentanyl and a loaded 9 mm pistol.
He wasn’t supposed to have a gun since he was previously convicted of other drug crimes, including distributing fentanyl, which led to two overdose deaths in Outagamie and Waupaca Counties.
Authorities say Charlesworth got the gun from another man who was later sentenced to 15 months in prison for making false statements.
