Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul confirmed that his office is investigating Wausau Mayor Doug Diny regarding the recent removal of the city’s ballot drop box.
Kaul did not specify the focus of the inquiry, but Diny claims he acted to secure the drop box, which had been left unsecured.
While Wisconsin law does not explicitly address the use of ballot drop boxes, the state Supreme Court has approved their use for the upcoming November election.
In response, Wausau’s city clerk reinstalled the ballot drop box this week.
