A future project on the former Mid-Cities and Lakeshore Mall properties has taken another step forward.
Mayor Justin Nickels announced that asbestos in the buildings has been 100% removed.
Now, crews can start demolishing the building to make way for a new development.
Nickels continues saying there will be a lot of activity happening on the site in October.
The site should be completely cleared by November.
The plan is then for Tycore Inc. out of Green Bay to invest $70 million in building homes, multi-unit housing, and more.
Three commercial plots will also be along Memorial Drive.
A TIF District was created for the 37-acre property to allow for construction.
If everything goes according to plan, development could start by the spring of 2025.
