A Two Rivers librarian has been given a special award.
The Wisconsin Libraries Association announced yesterday that Terry Ehle, who works at the Lester Public Library as the Youth Services Coordinator, was given the Librarian of the Year Award through the Wisconsin Library Association (WLA).
Ehle has been with the library since 1998 and is an active member of the WLA Services Section, serving as chair in 2017.
In her time at Lester, the WLA says she’s raised the bar for materials for infants and teens at the library including the introduction of Reach Out and Read, which help give almost 2,400 books to kids last year.
She also submitted a grant to promote early literacy and environmental awareness in partnership with Two Rivers Parks and Rec and the Woodland Dunes Nature Center.
Ehle also formed a strong partnership with Two Rivers Schools to help map out a three-year plan.
She also brings library books for students to check out.
Last year, she visited 32 classrooms in the district and got 1,600 books checked out.
The Wisconsin Library Association finishes by saying Two Rivers and surrounding communities are lucky beneficiaries of Ehle’s dedication, creativity, and vision of providing outstanding library services.
