As summer ends in Two Rivers, the city is already looking forward to the fall.
Parks and Recreations Director Mike Mathis said on WOMT’s Be My Guest that the weather was great during the summer, and the beach was packed.
Money raised from the concession stand on the beach went toward lots of concerts on the beach and in central park.
“We had six different bands at Bands on the Beach this summer,” Mathis explained. “Just really great crowds for that. We added a seven-concert series on Friday nights in Central Park, also nice attendance for that for a first year. And then our classic Thursdays in Central Park Concert Series, we had 15 of those.”
That means over 30 different concerts were put on over the summer.
Fall activities are already underway like the paddlepalooza held for the first time this year.
Mathis says Ethnicfest was also successful again this year.
The parks and recreation department is already gearing up for winter, planning the 2nd annual Cool City Christmas.
Mathis says the city is stepping up the event this year.
“Big vendor fair at the community house again,” he stated. “We’re going to have food trucks, there will be smores over fires, there will be a fire truck and a horse-drawn carriage giving tours over town.”
The Central Park Ice Rink is also returning for another years. That should come out around November.
