Some Two Rivers residents are concerned about the city’s master plan for Neshotah Park.
Three residents spoke during the public comment period during Monday’s (October 7th) city council meeting about some concrete paths that could be added to the Neshotah Park area.
Resident Betty Grams, who lives on Garfield Street, was concerned that a new trail would cut the park in half.
She explained, “This map wants to funnel traffic from Garfield Street, through the heart of the park, to the playground, to the concessions area, to the most congested area.”
Grams also said that she didn’t know about any other city with a lakefront that would have a path that “wouldn’t get much use.”
The resident also expressed her concern with the maintenance of the proposed trail.
She finished by saying the park is a jewel and needs to be protected.
Resident Ramesh Ganatra echoed her statement but also expressed concern about taxpayer money being used to maintain something like a sidewalk.
The Neshotah Park Master Plan was adopted in 2023 and reiterated in the Open Spaces Plan when discussed last month.
