An Oconto fire left a cat needing treatment for smoke inhalation.
Oconto Fire and Rescue received a call on Monday (October 7th) just after 5:30 p.m. reporting a house fire in the 500 block of Brazeau Avenue.
All occupants of the home were reported to have already evacuated.
Arriving fire crews found a medium, wood-framed duplex emitting heavy smoke with flames venting from the home’s rear corner.
The crew first attacked the external flames before entering to take on the blaze from inside.
No civilians or responders were injured however one cat rescued from the house was treated for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Captain John Floyd of Oconto Fire and Rescue thanked Pensaukee, Abrams, and Pulaski-Tri County Fire Departments, along with the Oconto Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and WPS, for their help in the response.
