The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will be hosting an open house in the area over the weekend.
The open house will be held on Saturday (October 12th) from 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Besadny Anadromous Fish Facility.
The event is free and will offer guests the opportunity to watch salmon egg collections and educational presentations and get a guided tour of the facility.
Wagon rides to the facility from the parking area will also be provided by the Algoma Kewaunee Great Lakes Sport Fisherman group from 10:00 until 1:00 p.m.
The Besadny Anadromous Fish Facility is pivotal in stocking Lake Michigan with trout and salmon.
Returning adult fish are collected from the Kewaunee River to collect eggs.
These eggs are then sent to different hatcheries to be raised before being put back into Lake Michigan.
More information on the DNR open house can be found online at dnr.wisconsin.gov/events/98801.
