A famous racer at Road America has passed away.
An announcement from the “National Park of Speed” explained that August “Augie” Pabst Jr. died on October 9th at the age of 90.
Pabst was the great-grandson of the Milwaukee brewing company and embarked on a ten-year racing journey that included two national championships.
He first won in 1959 at the USAC Road Racing Championship and the 1960 SCCA Championship.
He also secured victories at Road America in 1962 and 1963.
Road America continues saying following his retirement, Pabst remained a significant presence in motorsports contributing to the racetrack’s growth and success as a board member.
He was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2011.
His legacy continues in racing as his son, August Pabst III is managing the Pabst Racing Team that won the 2024 USF2000 Championship.
