U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin has announced nearly $200,000 has been awarded to two area economic development corporations (EDC).
The Sheboygan and Oconto County EDCs were the recipients of $189,000 to help support local businesses, local jobs, and overall economic development in the counties.
The Sheboygan County EDC was awarded $99,000 to establish a revolving loan fund serving rural businesses.
This fund will serve at least ten businesses in Sheboygan.
In Oconto, the EDC was awarded $90,000 to provide technical assistance to small and rural businesses.
The funding will be targeted at businesses located in the villages of Suring and Lena, which will create five new jobs and save five current jobs in Oconto County.
The funding comes from the Rural Business Development Grants Program included in the state’s 2024 government funding bill.
