The city of Chilton will be looking for a new mayor.
An announcement on their Facebook page says Mayor Thomas J. Reinl officially resigned from his position on Wednesday, October 2nd.
The common council voted on Monday (October 15th) to leave the mayoral position open until someone is elected in April 2026.
Current Council President Rick Jaeckels is assuming the role of acting mayor and will preside over meetings for now.
The city continues saying they thank Reinl “for his outstanding community service to the citizens of Chilton.”
Reinl became involved in city government when he was elected as an alderman in 2004.
He served until 2008 before later being elected mayor in 2012.
He stepped away in 2018 as an alderman before getting another term as mayor in 2020.
Some highlights of his tenure include several road projects throughout the city, updating city facilities, building a new Fire Department, and renovating City Hall.
