The Ashwaubenon School District has issued a statement amidst the rise in school threats throughout the state.
While Ashwaubenon hasn’t dealt with threats in their district, they acknowledged that threats to schools are indeed on the rise.
They have also made it clear that any threat they are made aware of will be considered credible until proven otherwise.
The school district has said, “Any statement that involves threats of harm, whether made in jest or not, will be fully investigated.”
Even unfound threats and the investigations that follow cause unnecessary anxiety and stress for students, staff, and the greater community.
Ashwaubenon urges parents to remind their children just how much weight their words can carry.
As for students, reporting any threat they see to a trusted adult is a key factor in keeping schools safe.
The message put out by the Ashwaubenon School District serves as a reminder to students and parents alike, “If you see something, say something.”
