Bond has been set significantly higher for two charged in the death of Elijah Vue.
Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa approved a $500,000 cash bond for 39-year-old Jesse Vang while 31-year-old Katrina Baur was given a $400,000 cash bond.
Conditions are similar with both not being allowed to have any contact with anyone under 18 and no contact with each other.
District Attorney Jacalyn LeBre asked for the bonds because of Baur and Vang’s criminal history and that they might be a flight risk.
Koppa said of the case that “the seriousness is beyond discussion” before setting bond.
Both will be back in a Manitowoc County Courtroom this upcoming Monday (October 21st) for their initial appearances.
Vang is now facing charges of physical assault to a child resulting in death, abuse of a corpse, and obstructing an officer.
Baur faces new charges of chronic neglect of a child, consequence is death, neglecting a child and two counts of obstructing an officer.
The missing person’s case of Elijah Vue turned into a death investigation in September after his remains were found in the Town of Two Rivers.
