A teenager from Oshkosh has been arrested for threatening to kill other juveniles with a replica gun.
The Oshkosh Police Department was called just after 12:30 p.m. yesterday (October 23rd) to the skate park in the 1500 block of Taft Avenue on the report of a disturbance involving a handgun.
Before police arrived, the suspect, a 16-year-old male from Oshkosh, took out the facsimile airsoft gun and threatened to kill the other teenagers he was with.
Arriving officers located the suspect and attempted to make contact, but he fled.
This began a short foot pursuit, which resulted in the 16-year-old being placed in custody.
He is facing seven counts of recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct, and resisting an officer.
No one was injured during the incident; however, Oshkosh West High School was placed under secure status for approximately 15 minutes while it occurred.
After the situation, the Oshkosh Police Department warned parents of the potential consequences and risks involved when giving their children facsimile weapons.
