More law enforcement scams are being reported in Manitowoc County.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office has received an influx of fraud scams over the past week involving scammers impersonating sheriff’s deputies over the phone.
These callers attempt to manipulate victims under the guise of being members of law enforcement.
The scammers have been posing as Sergeant Johnson, claiming they needed payment or that a warrant would be issued for one victim’s arrest.
Another victim has said scammers claimed payment was needed to get their grandson out of jail.
As is the case with all such fraud scams, the Sheriff’s Office has said they will never call a citizen to pressure or threaten them for payment.
They also recommend never giving out personal information about you or your family members and reaching out to authorities to report suspicious phone calls.
More information on the fraudulent incidents can be found online at the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office website under the fraud links tab.
