This week is Veteran Buddy Check Week.
For many veterans, life after service can be a big struggle. Some suffer from PTSD, while others have issues transitioning back to civilian life.
Veteran Buddy Check Week is a time set aside to remind veterans to check on their “battle buddies” or those who have also served.
The Department of Veterans Affairs is calling on all veterans to take the pledge to check in on ten veterans throughout the week, to make sure they are doing ok.
Any veterans having thoughts of suicide or self-harm are encouraged to seek help.
There is a veteran-focused 24/7 helpline, which can be reached by calling 988 and then pressing 1, texting 838255, or going to VeteranCrisisLine.net.
