The Manitowoc County Veteran’s Service Office is reminding veterans to update their healthcare ID cards.
Executive Director Todd Brehmer explained on the WCUB Breakfast Club that veterans should contact their VA Clinic.
“Takes about ten minutes,” Brehmer explained. “A couple of questions at the computer, they take a new photograph, and you’ll get it in the mail.”
Brehmer says his card expired earlier this year and he was able to get it done at the Green Bay VA Clinic.
He continues saying the ID is good to have because that’s the one business will be looking for when they offer discounts for Veterans Day, which is coming up in about three weeks.
But if a veteran isn’t with the VA, they can get an ID through the federal government.
Brehmer says it could take some time because you must go to the VA’s website and create an account to sign up.
He noted, “After answering all the questions and uploading a picture ID of yourself…you’ll get a veterans ID card in the mail.”
Veterans can find more information or get help from the Manitowoc County Veterans Service Office located on Michigan Street in Manitowoc.
