There is a new man in charge of recruiting for the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
The Recruiting and Retention Battalion held a change of command ceremony on October 18th, marking the beginning of Lieutenant Colonel Jesse Augustine’s command.
The outgoing LTC, Shannon Hellenbrand, has spent 26 years as a part of the Wisconsin Army National Guard, taking over as the commander of the RRB in 2022.
As we previously reported, LTC Hellenbrand helped the Guard exceed its recruitment goals for 2024, marking the first time in 7 years that goal was achieved.
In her farewell remarks, LTC Hellenbrand said, “It has been an honor to lead such a dedicated and resilient team.”
LTC Augustine most recently served as the commander 173D Brigade Engineer Battalion, where he was instrumental in the units COVID-19 and State Active Duty Mission.
He called being named to the position a “tremendous privilege”, and noted that LTC Hellenbrand “set the bar high by instilling a long-term vision and commitment within the team and empowering them to navigate a tough recruiting climate with persistence and adaptability.”
