The Village of Campbellsport has received grant funding from the Department of Natural Resources.
The DNR announced yesterday (October 31st) that Campbellsport has received a brownfield grant to assist in investigating potential environmental contamination at the site of a former self-service gas station.
The site is just under a half-acre, where soil contamination was found during the removal of the former gas station’s underground storage tanks in 2018.
The village is seeking to redevelop the property, and with information gathered thanks to the funding from the DNR, they will get the necessary assessment to move forward with the project.
A brownfield is a property where real or potential contamination complicates the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of the land.
This award was made possible by the DNR’s Wisconsin Assessment Monies program which has provided over $3.3 million in services and grant funds since 2009.
