Manitowoc Lincoln High School senior Tessa Campbell will be taking her athletic journey to the next level at the Division I University of St. Thomas, Minnesota.
Campbell has been a staple of the Ships track program, something she attributed to her love of the sport.
“I enjoy the training and the competing and the strategy of all of it,” she told SeehaferNews.com. “I think to succeed in something, you first have to love it.”
Campbell’s passion has truly taken her far as she holds the 400m indoor (1:00.10) and outdoor (57.17) records for girls track at Lincoln High School and is a 3x WIAA Track & Field state qualifier placing 9th one year, and 6th twice.
Campbell knew that she wanted to continue competing in the sport after her high school career even before her first year at Lincoln.
“The goal is always been Division one, but I would have been happy just to continue competing in general,” Campbell explained. “I think that there is also so much left for me to achieve on the track and I’m really grateful that I get the opportunity to continue running competitively.”
Amongst the other Division I and II offers Campbell received, she felt that St. Thomas was the best fit for her not only athletically, but academically as well.
She told us that she “clicked with the team right away in the coaches and the campus really felt like home. I also like that St Thomas is located in a big city and it has a lot of resources for me to grow.”
Campbell will have her official signing on November 13th in the Lincoln High School auditorium at 3:00 p.m. along with two other senior commits Brayden Steinbecker, who will be attending St. Cloud State University for baseball, and Julien Bailey who will continue his football career at Bemidji State University.
