A Manitowoc teen has been arrested after child pornography was found on his phone.
The Manitowoc Police Department received a report from the Department of Criminal Investigation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, noting a local man had been using a phone app to share explicit images and videos of children.
One of the videos in question showed a prepubescent female in compromising positions.
The investigation led police to a US Cellular account owned by a woman in the 900 block of South 19th Street.
The woman told police that her 17-year-old son had the number attached to the report.
The suspect admitted to police that he was sent child sexual abuse material on online gamer chat rooms but denied having any on his phone at that time.
However, a search of his device uncovered six images depicting child sexual abuse.
When presented with the evidence, the teen admitted to searching for the material because he was “curious.”
The teen was charged with six counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
