An incident on a Two Rivers School District bus involved a student jumping out of the back and a disgruntled parent.
According to the district, while a long-time bus driver was driving on an unfamiliar route last Thursday (November 14th), they missed several stops and pulled over to contact the bus company.
While waiting, a student opened the emergency exit at the back of the bus and got out, followed by other students.
The bus driver called the students back on the bus, closed the door, and then got back on the route.
However, a vehicle pulled in front of the school bus, blocking its path.
The TR School District then said a parent exited the vehicle and began pounding on the bus door, demanding that the driver open it.
The bus driver didn’t open the door for safety because they didn’t know the adult.
Instead, they remained inside the bus until the arrival of Two Rivers police so they could make sure the student was safely reunited with their parents.
No students were harmed, and the incident is being reviewed by police.
The bus company is also reviewing safety protocols to prevent future incidents and ensure a secure experience for all passengers.
