The man charged in the death of Elijah Vue has entered a plea of not guilty.
39-year-old Jesse Vang was in Judge Anthony Lambrecht’s courtroom this morning (November 18th) over Zoom for his arraignment hearing.
Vang faces physical assault of a child causing death charges after Elijah’s remains were found in the Town of Two Rivers in September.
According to a criminal complaint, Vang reported Elijah missing on February 20th of this year.
The complaint now alleges that Elijah died because of “homicide by unspecified means.”
Prosecutors allege that Vang mentally and physically hurt Elijah, which caused his death. Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, is also facing charges, including chronic child neglect, consequence is death, child neglect, and obstruction.
The criminal complaint alleges that she left Elijah with Vang to correct his “bad behavior.”
Vang will be back in court on March 13th for a status conference.
