A child in Shawano County called 911 for help with their math homework.
Last week, Deputy Mason with the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to the unusual call.
The ten-year-old boy claimed his family “wasn’t very good at math either” and needed help.
In his report, Deputy Mason said, “Personally, I am also not overly proficient when it comes to math, but nonetheless, I responded to assist.”
Once he arrived, Deputy Mason was able to work with the boy to solve the decimal-related math problems.
After the ordeal, the ten-year-old was supplied with a business card, and Deputy Mason told him they were always there to help.
However, he was advised to use the non-emergency line for any math-related calls for assistance or non-life-threatening situations.
Following his response, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office commended Deputy Mason for being a friend to the young man and chalked it up as a teaching moment for all.
